Dermal Fillers,

What are Dermal fillers?

Some people seem to be under the impression that dermal fillers are the same as Botox, when in reality, they aren’t at all. Dermal fillers are sometimes called facial fillers. They too are designed to prevent/reduce the lines and wrinkles in the face, commonly associated with aging. When people grow older, natural elastic and collagen reserves in their skin cells diminish, which in turn causes the skin to become saggy and a great deal looser than it was previously. In our bodies, we have natural reserves of a component known as Hyaluronic Acid, or HA for short. This helps keep the skin strong, firm, youthful, and healthy looking. Dermal fillers inject HA into the skin, helping to plump it up and fill it out. These injections fill in parts of the face that are wrinkled, with collagen, helping to reduce them dramatically and stimulate the production of collagen within the face.

Dermal fillers are commonly used to restore volume in the face or lips and enhance areas affected due to natural ageing.

Treatment Areas

Areas that can be treated with dermal filler:

Lips

Cheeks

Jawline and chin

Nasolabial folds (nose to mouth lines)

Smokers lines

Marionette lines (mouth to chin lines)

Smile lines

Can I use Botox with dermal fillers? Yes you can. When deciding which procedure to go with, it’s important to remember how each one works. For example, if you wish to get rid of what are known as dynamic wrinkles, which are caused by facial expressions you make, Botox is ideal. For lines and wrinkles caused through ageing however, dermal fillers are ideal. Whilst you can indeed use both together, often you will find that when you have decided which wrinkles you wish to eliminate, that only one type of treatment will be needed. Jawline and Chin filler (3ml package)

Dermal fillers are one of the most popular ways to look younger without surgery. Although there is a little discomfort, getting fillers injected is much less painful than you may think! Topical numbing cream is used prior to treatment to help make you more comfortable.

Can i wash my face post Dermal filler? You can wash your face immediately after receiving your injections. However, no strong pressure is to be made nor intense rubbing.

How long do Dermal Fillers last? It depends how your body reacts and which hyaluronic acid is used, but most will last between 6-18 months. Sometimes more is needed to obtain the result desired, this will be discussed with you on an individual basis.

Skin Boosters

Profhilo / Lumifill / Seventy hyal

Profhilo is a very popular treatment as although it is not a dermal filler, it is part of the hyaluronic acid family. It has been designed to bio-remodel the skin with the aim to increase the production of collagen and elastin as well as add hydration.

This treatment targets fine lines and wrinkles, tightens skin, replenishes dull skin and gives a more youthful complexion in a very natural and subtle way.

With the highest levels of injectable hyaluronic acid; 64mg per 2ml, it is no surprise that skin hydration is improved, skin tone is tighter, and the appearance of wrinkles are reduced. This treatment is the perfect compliment alongside other treatments as it can target areas of the face and neck that botox and dermal fillers cant.

Treatment: Two sessions required 4 weeks apart. Each session will consist of 2ml, so total loading dose is 4ml.

Profhilo can last for up to 6-8 months, however adding in a regular session of profhilo during / after this time can help to retain results.

Please note, some people may require more than two sessions for best results, due to variations in skin types, lifestyle, age and severity of ageing skin. This will be discussed with you at your consultation.

Polynucleotides

Polynucleotides are bio stimulators that contain molecules derived from fish, this is the closest match to our human DNA. This has an antioxidant effect alongside the bio remodelling, restoring skin tone and elasticity.

Polynucleotides stimulate our own fibroblast in our skin which are specialized cells in the skin responsible for producing collagen providing strength and elasticity to the skin.

Various factors such as ageing, UV radiation, poor diet, poor circulation, chronic inflammation, some medical conditions, and smoking can all cause these fibroblasts to slow down and less collagen is produced resulting in ageing, dull, sagging, lined skin. It is recommended to have 3 treatments (one every three weeks) for best results.

This treatment can be tailored as part of a treatment plan as it is safe to have other treatments in conjunction to your polynucleotides session.

There is minimal downtime for this treatment, however some little lumps from injection pattern post treatment may take 24 -48 hours to settle - so always plan your treatments around your commitments / social engagements.

  • Results can start showing after 3 weeks

  • Full results can be seen 3-6 months once full treatment schedule completed.

  • Results can hold longevity (12 months plus) with right course of treatment sessions

Areas that can be treated:

Eyes: Under eyes and around the eyes.

Targeting: Fine lines and crows feet, improving loss of elasticity, collagen stimulation to boost firmness.

This treatment works by stimulating fibroblasts within the skin which results in increased collagen and elastin production.

Full face and neck:

Great for resurfacing skin pigmentation, age spots, acne scarring, fine lines and wrinkles and loss of elasticity.

Other areas to treat include:

Stomach, hands, knees, scars, stretch marks.
